It's Spain
comes to Lymm on the Saturday 7th at 08:00pm venue is Howard's at Maltmans Road.
Catering
is a joint collaboration between Liz Waterworth & Hilary Williamson
(Madame Tortilla to her friends).
Joan et
moi have been doing our best for you & trying new Spanish varieties &
varietals. I've been reading Hugh Johnson & Oz Clarke 2004 pocket wine
books.
Due to
me getting a 6 month contract to put together the wine list for an exciting
new & expanding Chain of Bistro's called 'Nicholsons' (next branch opens
in Altrincham Downs mid August) I have lots of new good trade contacts &
can expect to get good discounts.
I hope
to source us wines from,
Priorat Ribera Del Duero, Rueda, Bierzo & La Mancha who are now, due to
massive investment in the late 90s, able to compete with the giants,
Rioja & Herez.
I am
being constantly amazed at the quality of wines I'm tasting from Spain. I
think the overall mix will of course though have to include a serious Rioja
& I don't think Liz would object to a little something dryish from Jerez
Joan is certainly in favour !!!
Not sure
of numbers so please can you contact me as soon as possible to confirm so I
can get an idea of our budget. I'll be at the Club meeting on the 28th
July so I'll collect subs then. please send them by post if you can't make it
to the meeting.
I know
there may be one or two new members interested but I don't seem to have
saved their names in my 'address book' so hopefully you'll see this in the
Newsletter.
